About Me

CURRENTLY ON VANCOUVER ISLAND

Hey, I'm Matt, a Canadian filmmaker and YouTube personality. Video has been the main focus of my life since I was a teenager. I started out filming my friends riding mountain bikes, and everything changed when I started creating comedy sketches.

I was lucky enough to find viral success in the early days of YouTube - and I’ve ridden that wave ever since.

I went to film school and shot weddings and action-sports videos on the side while growing my YouTube audience. Before long, brands like MEC, CBC, and Trek took notice, leading to a series of memorable projects. Today, with over a million subscribers and 400+ million views, I’m known for blending storytelling, creativity, and cinematic visuals across a wide range of work.

Mahalo My Dude is where you’ll find me today, documenting my adventures and daily life. I started the channel in 2016 to reconnect with my first passion: cycling. The channel and Instagram account became a hub for cyclists who don’t take themselves too seriously, along with an online store known for its playful stickers and t-shirts.

Here, I’ve learned the ins and outs of building an online community.
